Question by lipstick7000: In Chromosomes that develop a baby's sex, where there is an XX or an XY combination, why is there always an X
and only sometimes a Y?

The mom always contrinbutes an x. The dad contributes either an x or a y.
X + Y = male (xy)
X + X = female (xx)
