How well does abstinence based sex education work with hormonal high schoolers?

my dad always said the best place to pick up girls is in church because they are so repressed and dieing to sin

It worked fine for me.

Why do you think it takes "education" to create abstinence? How about a little PARENTING. That goes a long way most of the time.

Responsibility is something that's instilled in you from birth. It's not something the educational system can pick up where parents left off.

Teaching kids that sex is not totally and completely necessary for existence, until you're financially responsible enough to deal with the consequences or until you know your partner well enough to a) be prepared to spend the rest of your life with them and the resulting kid, or b) know they're not disease-ridden, is a good start.
